About Celebrate the Valley

Celebrate the Valley, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non profit whose goal is to showcase the beauty and richness of the Mount Snow / Deerfield Valley of Southern Vermont.

It began in 2006 when a couple of business owners got together and decided the valley needed more events to attract business. They looked at what the valley had to offer and decided to create the events that not only attracted business but showcased the diversity of our area. It was a tough task but we had fun with it. So far these are the events that we've produced.

We started with Taste of the Deerfield Valley which happens 2 weekends after Labor Day each year. It brings together over a dozen restaurants for free "tastes" of their menus. A huge success the first year, it also included a craft show, live music, kids activities and more.

That was followed by Walk of the Santas Weekend, an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the largest Santa Gathering. It is a weekend filled with Chirstasa activities for everyone. This event occurs 2 weekends after Thanksgiving Weekend each year.

The $ Grand $ Race occurs Memorial Day Weekend. It is a race that takes teams throughout the valley in a race for the $ Grand $ prize of $1000. Teams solve clues and perform tasks similar to the Amazing Race TV show.

Our newest event
In July 2008, we teamed up with the Living History Association to put on the 22nd Annual Time Line Event. This event brought over 75 reenactors from Roman times right up to the Vietnam War. Camped out in Howe Field in Wilmington, attendees could interact with the reenactors, see weapons demonstrations, uniform parades and the biggest hit; the earth shaking cannon fire.

Part of the proceeds of all of our events are contributed to local charities and other non-profts. In the past we have been able to help out West River Habitat for Humanity, the Holiday Giving Tree, Living History Association, Make A Wish Foundation and the Forest Moon Cancer Retreat.

We are always looking for people to help us with our mission. Whether you can volunteer for part of the event or help in planning or marketing it, we could use your help. The main thing is that we have fun and its a great way to give back.
Contact us to volunteer if you're interested.
