    Myron Mixon Myron Mixon is joining us year at the Taste of the Deerfield Valley. Star of TLC's BBQ Pitmaster show and winner of over $680,000 in prize money, he will be demonstrating his BBQ skills over the weekend.

    Don't miss the new season of BBQ Pitmasters starring Myron Mixon on August 12th, 2010 on TLC.

    Myron competed in his first competition in Augusta, Ga. where he took 1st place in Whole Hog, 1st place in Pork Ribs and 3rd in Pork Shoulder. Since the beginning, he has won over 180 grand championships resulting in over 1700 total trophies, 30 state championships including wins in Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Virginia, Arkansas, Mississippi, Kentucky, Illinois, South Carolina, and Tennessee, Team of the Year 8 times, and 11 national championships.

    He has also taken three first place whole hogs at the Jack Daniels World Championship Invitational Barbeque Competition. Additionally, he has been the Grand Champion at the World Championship in Memphis three times, in 2001, 2004 and 2007. He has also taken first place in the Whole Hog category at the World Championship in 2001, 2003, 2004 and 2007. Myron's BBQ team, Jack’s Old South has been the Memphis in May Team of the Year with the highest number of points for 8 years, from 1999 through 2004, and also 2007 and 2009. They are also the only team to win Grand Championships in Memphis in May, Kansas City BBQ Society and Florida BBQ Association in the same year.

    BBQ Battlewagon
    Myron will be traveling to Vermont with a one of a kind 30 foot trailer that includes a 6ft x 6ft Hog Cooker, 2500lb Shoulder Cooker and a 5 rack Rib Cooker. As you can see from the video below, this man is not only entertaining, he knows his stuff. Come see him this September 10-12 at the 5th Annual Taste of the Deerfield Valley!

    Myron notes in the video that he offers private lessons at his home in Georgia for $750. Lucky for us, he is joining our mission of raising money for the Junior Iron Chef Program with a portion of the proceeds of the whole weekend. As a result you can attend one of his appearances below for a fraction of the cost. You'll also be supporting culinary education with a tax deductible donation.

    Friday night: VIP Lesson, Dinner & Beer Pairing

    Myron will demonstrate Chicken, Ribs, Brisket & a whole hog.

    9am - Chef Robert Barral will prepare Tomato Pie with the Junior Iron Chef team
    10am - Myron Mixon demonstrates his sauces, rubs and a whole hog with the assistance of the Junior Iron Chef team. A Taste of Tomato Pie and BBQ Pork Sliders will be served.
